Man who claims Don Lemon sexually assaulted him ordered to pay $77K in legal fees

CNN’s Don Lemon, yet another one of its primetime employees embroiled in a developing sexual misconduct scandal, made headlines again this week after a wild twist and turn in a current case against him.

According to Radar Online, Dustin Hice, the man who claimed Lemon sexually assaulted him at a Hampton’s bar, was just ordered by a judge in charge of the case to pay Lemon, the defendant, a staggering $77,000 in legal fees due to an unusual turn of events.

That turn of events, the judge cited, is the fact that two of the leading witnesses in the case have suddenly switched to Lemon’s side, which prompted the judge to take action against Hice.

The decision came as a result of Lemon’s request that the judge “sanction” Hice, to the tune of some $106,000.

Invalid claims?

Many believe it’s too convenient that two of Hice’s star witnesses magically switched to the defense’s side, but with that being the case, U.S. Magistrate Judge Thomas Locke apparently has a much different view of the allegations Hice made against the CNN host.

Judge Locke now believes that some of Hice’s claims might even be “invalid.”

Lemon’s legal counsel has painted Hice as somewhat of an opportunist, claiming that it’s all about the money, and less about the facts of what really took place at Murf’s Backstreet Tavern in Sag Harbor in July 2018.

“Don categorically denies these claims,” a spokesperson for Lemon said in 2019. “The plaintiff in this lawsuit has previously displayed a pattern of contempt for CNN on his social media accounts,” the spokesman added at the time.

“This claim follows his unsuccessful threats and demands for an exorbitant amount of money from Don Lemon.”

What’s next?

Hice has stood by his claims, insisting that Lemon made a number of sexual advances on him at the time, including some that are too vulgar to print.

“Lemon will have to testify under oath in the near future, but it’s good to see that there’s finally some accountability happening,” Hice recently told Fox News after a judge ordered the case to go to a jury trial later on this year.

Only time will tell who prevails, but it looks as though Lemon’s star power and virtually unlimited monetary resources will, as in many other cases involving celebrities, ultimately win the battle.
