Christian broadcaster Marcus Lamb dead of COVID-19 at 64: Reports

A popular conservative Christian broadcaster has died at the age of 64.

According to The Hill, Marcus Lamb died after contracting COVID-19. Even as loved ones and fans mourned, some on the left were apparently celebrating the news.

“Fiercely loving the Lord”

Lamb was the founder of Daystar, a religious broadcasting network. In a statement, the company emphasized the faith that sustained him.

“The family asks at this time that their privacy be respected as they grieve this difficult loss, and they wish to express their deep love and gratitude for all those who prayed during Marcus’s health battle,” the Daystar statement continued.

The influential broadcaster “leaves behind a legacy of fiercely loving the Lord, all the people of the world, and most of all his family,” the statement asserted.

Of course, the fact that Lamb was a vocal opponent of vaccine mandates, some social media users appeared to find some morbid sense of justice in the way he died.

“We were trying to treat the COVID and pneumonia with different protocols we use, including the ones we talk about on Daystar,” said Lamb’s widow, Joni. “We used those — I myself used them and had breezed through COVID.”

“Stay away from the rest of us”

While his family and friends expressed grief and fans offered condolences, a tweet from Occupy Democrats drew a range of derogatory and cruel replies. “And another one bites the dust!” wrote one user.

Another critic warned Lamb’s supporters to “stay away from the rest of us,” declaring: “Laughter is good for the soul.”

That post drew limited pushback, including one user who responded: “Well you’d have to have a soul first. Which looks like some of you don’t.”

The debate continued within the comments of that post, with at least a few other cooler-headed users calling for decency. Such vicious and offensive rhetoric also spilled over into responses to more mainstream reports of Lamb’s death — and even one of the final tweets he posted before his death.

“God is working. Wait on Him in faith!” Lamb wrote on Monday. While that simple statement did attract some apparently well-intentioned responses from across the ideological spectrum, they were outnumbered by those seeking to use the sad news as a political pawn.
