James Kilcer’s actions last week when he disarmed a gun-toting thug set to rob the gas station he was standing in immediately went viral, as his quick thinking not only thwarted the robbery, but likely saved lives in the process.
According to Fox News, Kilcer was recently presented with the “Citizen’s Valor Award,” which is the highest award possible for acts of valor committed by civilians. He was presented the prestigious award by Sheriff Leon Wilmot, while also sporting a MAGA hat and a shirt that read, “Let’s go Brandon.”
Of course, “Let’s go Brandon” is the family-friendly version of the “F*** Joe Biden” chant that tends to break out on the weekends at sporting events across the country. The PG phrase was adopted after an NBC reporter hilariously attempted to claim, on-air, that the crowd was cheering a racecar driver named Brandon, when in fact the crowd was chanting the F-bomb version.
Kilcer was presented the award due to what was described as “extraordinary heroism and exceptional courage while voluntarily coming to the aid of another citizen during an incident involving criminal activity at extreme, life-threatening, personal risk in an attempt to save or protect human life.”
The award itself was described by the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office as the “highest award for citizens whose actions warrant recognition.”
Kilcer, during his many interviews with the media following his heroic actions, described why he took action at the time instead of abiding by the gun-toting, would-be robber’s commands.
“I turn around to go and leave, kind of walk out and as I’m turning around I hear the door kind of open real aggressively,” Kilcer recalled. “At that point, the ‘spidey senses’ tingled a little bit.”

“I saw two other guys with no other weapons and decided that’s the guy that I’m going to hit,” Kilcer said.
Kilcer, asked how he was able to pull off such an amazing, life-saving move, credited his training in the U.S. Marine Corps, adding that the training “mentally prepared” him to face dangerous, life-threatening moments.
What about the suspects?
There were a total of three suspects in the attempted robbery, with the armed suspect, a juvenile, arrested by cops thanks to Kilcer holding him until police arrived.
As of this writing, the remaining two suspects are still missing, and police are currently searching for them.
