Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that she was attacked in a Washington restaurant by an angry woman who threatened her safety.

The congresswoman took to Twitter to share her concerns about the disturbing incident.

"Our country is gone"

"I was attacked in a restaurant tonight by an insane women and screamed at by her adult son," Taylor Greene tweeted.

"They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views," she added.

"They are self righteous, insane, and completely out of control. I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons. People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone," the congresswoman concluded.

The details

"Greene's spokesman Nick Dyer told FOX News Digital that the congresswoman and her staffers were working on preparations for Tuesday's committee hearings when the woman approached their table. He said the woman first politely introduced herself before berating the congresswoman," Fox News reported.

"At that point her 20-year-old son started screaming expletives at the top of his lungs and came closer," Dyer told the outlet. "I had to get in between him and the table because I had no clue what he’d do. More and more screaming by him while his mother continued to berate Marjorie."

It's not the first attack the congresswoman has faced in her work. Last month a New York man pleaded guilty to making threatening phone calls to Taylor Greene's Washington office.

Many online were quick to speak out against the congresswoman, including activist David Hogg.

"Man that sucks. I was attacked and screamed at in 2018 by an insane woman named Marjorie Taylor Greene. She had no respect for the privacy of me as an 18 year old school shooting survivor or my staff. She was self righteous, insane, and completely out of control," he replied to her tweet.

The concerning attack has led to strong thoughts by many as Americans grow increasingly concerned over violence against elected officials.
