Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Georgia home was ‘swatted’ twice in just over 24hrs

Early on Thursday morning, someone reported a false crime at Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) residence; this is the second “swatting” incident at her home in as many days, according to authorities.

According to The Hill, a local 911 call center received a chat at 2:53 in the morning on what appeared to be a suicide chat line from a person who claimed they came out as transgender and may have shot their family, according to a police report.

“If anyone tried to stop me from shooting myself, I will shoot them,” wrote the individual, who allegedly identified themselves as “Wayne Greene.”

According to the Rome Police Department, when officers arrived at Greene’s house, she confirmed the report was untrue when they spoke to her at the door.

More information

The police report indicated that the person who created the chats used a VPN, and authorities have not been able to find them.

Together with U.S. Capitol Police, the incident is being looked into by local police (USCP).

“This is an active investigation and no further information can be released at this time,” Rome Police said in a statement.

Both police agencies are investigating another swatting incident at the lawmaker’s home that occurred the day before.

“For safety reasons, the USCP does not discuss potential security measures for Members or any potential investigations,” the agency said in a statement.

The person made two 911 calls: one claiming a person had been shot multiple times at Greene’s house using a computer-generated voice, and the other complaining about Greene’s stance on transgender youth rights.

Background

The Georgia Republican, a vocal opponent of transgender rights, last week introduced a bill that would make providing gender-affirming care for children a crime.

On Thursday morning’s episode of Stephen Bannon’s “War Room” podcast, she adamantly defended those opinions.

“It’s very dangerous, Steve,” Greene told Bannon. “Because we haven’t found this person, or it may be a group of people, but whoever it is and whatever they are, their ideology is sick and disgusting.”
