Mass shooting at Indiana mall stopped by armed citizen

Shoppers at the Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, Indiana were left terrorized this when a mass shooter opened fire at around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, leaving three people murdered and two others wounded.

Yet as Fox News reported, the carnage was brought to an end when an armed citizen shot the gunman dead.

Police chief hails armed shopper as “the real hero of the day”

The network quoted Greenwood Police Department Chief James Ison as saying that “a good Samaritan with a handgun” cut the tragedy short.

Police have described the killer as being a lone male who was armed with a long gun and equipped with multiple loaded magazines.

Fox 59 noted that Ison had further praise for the armed citizen, who was carrying a weapon at the mall despite its anti-gun policy.

“The real hero of the day was the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in the food court and was able to stop the shooter almost as soon as he began,” the local law enforcement official declared.

Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers offered a similar assessment, saying, “Someone we are calling the ‘Good Samaritan’ was able to shoot the assailant and stop further bloodshed.”

“This person saved lives tonight,” Myers continued, adding, “On behalf of the City of Greenwood, I am grateful for his quick action and heroism in this situation.”

Armed citizens have stopped other shootings

Sunday’s shooting came less than two months after Fox News reported that a woman in West Virginia killed a habitual criminal when he opened fire on a graduation party.

These two incidents are far from being the only cases in which legally armed citizens used their weapons to stop a mass shooting. Other examples have taken place at an auto shop, a bar, a fast food restaurant, a back to school event, and a Walmart parking lot.

The evidence that lawful gun owners are not the problem, but could be the solution to many mass shooting attempts continues to mount, if the left will just look at it.
