According to The Daily Wire, former First Lady Michelle Obama “is stepping in to help Joe Biden” after Tuesday night’s spectacle of a debate between the Democratic White House hopeful and incumbent President Donald Trump.
The Daily Wire reports that Obama said in an Instagram post earlier this week that Democrats should resist the urge to tune out politics in the wake of the debate, arguing that it would be akin to letting Trump win.
“I feel you,” the high-profile Democrat wrote in her Wednesday post, according to the Daily Wire. “Believe me, I do. But we can’t let [Trump] win by tuning out altogether. That’s what he wants.”
“The only way”
Obama went on to call directly on her supporters to “vote for Joe” this November. “In this election, we’ve got to vote for Joe in numbers that cannot be denied,” the former first lady insisted, as The Daily Wire noted.
“It’s the only way we can get out of this chaos and restore some stability to this country,” she added. Take a look:

If you were turned off by the President’s behavior last night, I feel you. Believe me, I do. But we can’t let him win by tuning out altogether. That’s what he wants. So turn those feelings into action—turn them into votes for my friend, @JoeBiden. It’s the only way we can get out of this chaos and restore some stability to this country. You can start by reaching out to everyone you know. Make sure they’re registered. Make sure they know how and when they’re going to vote. And then follow up with them, every day, to make sure they cast their ballot. Because in this election, we’ve got to vote for Joe in numbers that cannot be denied. iwillvote.com
The Obamas and Biden
It’s not all that surprising, of course, to see Mrs. Obama stumping for her husband’s former running mate. After all, Biden is the only candidate interested in preserving former President Barack Obama’s legacy; Trump certainly isn’t.
In fact, a Thursday report from Fox News that was cited by the Daily Wire revealed the Obamas “have played a large — if mostly virtual — role in Biden’s candidacy as some Democrats feel nostalgic for his eight years in office.”
“The Obamas also say they consider the [former] vice president a personal friend — even though the former president has reportedly had doubts about his former vice president’s ability to win the White House,” Fox noted, pointing to an August report from Politico that alleged Barack Obama once said of Biden: “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up.”
Michelle Obama, for her part, seems to be doing everything she can to avoid an election-busting blunder by Biden. “Turn those feelings into action,” she wrote in her Wednesday Instagram post. “[T]urn them into votes for my friend, [Joe Biden].”
The polls have shown mixed results for Biden and Trump alike following Tuesday’s debate. According to Newsweek, a survey of Telemundo viewers found 66% of respondents felt the president won the face-off, while a CNN poll had 60% of participants favoring Biden, Forbes reported.
Meanwhile, a Fox News focus group drawn from voters in Scranton, Pennsylvania — Biden’s hometown — saw neither candidate as the clear winner, although one previously undecided voter did say he would be siding with Trump. “If I had to vote tomorrow based on this it would be tough,” the man told Fox. “I’m going to say that if I had to vote tomorrow, I would vote for our current president.”
