While other events around the country have stolen the headlines for the past two weeks, the immigration crisis at the southern U.S. border hasn’t simply gone away. As a matter of fact, it’s getting worse by the day and President Joe Biden’s administration still haven’t managed to do much about it.
According to a bombshell Washington Examiner exclusive report, which was based on information obtained from a government planning report, by early June, the Biden administration anticipates it will be releasing some 400 migrant families per day into America.
On the surface, the key issue is simply a numbers game. There are more illegal immigrants pouring across the southern U.S. border — by the hour — than any time in the past. It’s a critical emergency and detention facilities are already long past overflow status.
The aforementioned document revealed that earlier in the Biden administration, some 50 migrant families were being released on a daily basis. In March, that figure quadrupled to 200 per day and the figure is expected to double again by early summer.
“Within 90 days, the enrollment is projected to double to 400 per day. It is because of this unusual and compelling urgency that the Government requires the [emergency family reception sites] to meet the critical mission requirements of housing, feeding, transporting, and providing medical attention to these thousands of asylum-seeking families along the southwest border,” the document said.
Interestingly — and even more scary — is the fact that U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) only records the head of the family in the programs that track such data, so it’s not just 400 migrants per day, it’s 400 families, which consist of two or more individuals.
It’s not a stretch, then, to presume that by the summer of 2021, literally thousands of illegal will be pushed out into American communities, draining the resources of small, local communities that are already stretched thin because of the pandemic.
Nobody reasonably expects Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to fix the issues at the border with a single visit, but Americans do expect their leaders to at least make it look like they give a rip about what’s happening.
So far, that doesn’t seem to bother the current administration, as they still give vague answers when asked if they have plans on visiting the southern U.S. border to get a first-hand feel for what’s really going on.
The situation is so extreme that it has even prompted Texas Democrats, like Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) to call for the president and vice president to take a tour of the border and the overpacked detention facilities.
“Do they need to visit the border at some time? I mean, yes,” Cuellar said in reference to Biden and Harris. “What’s appropriate, what time is appropriate? For us, as soon as possible. For them, they’ll have to make that decision.”
Only time will tell if Biden and Harris manage to find time in their “busy” schedule to have a look at one of the biggest crises facing America in decades.
