Mike Lee: HR1 ‘as if written in hell by the devil himself’

Mike Lee doesn’t mince words when it comes to his feelings about election “reform” act HR1 and what it will do to the United States.

Lee condemned the legislation in the strongest possible terms on Wednesday during a Fox&Friends interview, saying that he thought it would give Democrats unfair power advantages by allowing illegal voting to take place.

“I think I disagree with every single word in H.R. 1, including the words ‘but,’ ‘and,’ and ‘the,’” Lee said about the bill, which Democrat backers have called the “For the People Act.”

How can anyone disagree with an act that is “for the people,” right?

“Rotten to the core”

But Lee and other Republicans strongly disagree with the bill, which would force all states to go along with early and mail-in voting, allow same-day voter registration and address changes without provisional ballot status, and put redistricting into the hands of bureaucrats rather than local officials.

“Everything about this bill is rotten to the core. This is a bill as if written in hell by the devil himself,” Lee thundered. “That’s wrong. It’s really wrong. It’s bad policy.

Of course, both parties want people to be able to enjoy the freedom to legally vote for their preferred political candidates. The problem with HR1 and other Democrat voting reforms is that they go way beyond the right to legally vote.

Under HR1, someone could go into a voting precinct, give a false name and address, cast their ballot, and have their vote counted. Theoretically, they could do this multiple times with different names and addresses, but never have their votes looked at or questioned.

Do you begin to see where Lee’s opinion is coming from?

Easy equals fraud

The fundemental problem with making voting easy is that the easier it is, the more fraud there will be. Without laws that verify people’s identities and update rolls when voters die or move out of a precinct, it’s nearly guaranteed that there will be people voting that don’t have legal rights to do so–maybe more than once.

Such a system benefits those who desire to cheat, and right now, sadly, that is the Democrat party. We can’t let them get away with it if we want to preserve the rights and freedoms we have left in the current political climate.
