MSNBC contributor admits Donald Trump is final target of DOJ

MSNBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner called former President Donald Trump the “ultimate target” of DOJ investigators who indicted adviser Peter Navarro for failing to show up for his subpoena, according to Conservative Brief.

“There’s no doubt there’s a grand jury. There’s 100% sure there’s a grand jury now and it’s investigating the alternate fraudulent electors, which is all to help Donald Trump,” Sirius XM host Dean Obeidallah commented. “And according to New York Times reporting that they’re requesting information about Trump’s lawyers, Giuliani, John Eastman, Jenna Ellis and others.”

“Is this again part of the same thing with Navarro? And again, do you believe that Donald Trump is one of the targets of this?” Obeidallah asked Kirschner.

The legal analyst was eager to opine that investigators were ultimately in pursuit of Trump.

“Working its way up the criminal food chain”

“Yeah. So clearly I think Donald Trump is the ultimate target. And it seems to me that there are a couple of things going on. It seems to me that what DOJ is now doing is working its way up the criminal food chain,” Kirschner said.

The legal analyst continued, “They continue to go after, prosecute and convict Donald Trump’s footsoldiers of the insurrection that he told to go attack the Capitol and stop the steal. And they obeyed those commands from their commander in chief.”

Kirschner’s characterization was entirely false–Trump did not in fact tell anyone to “attack” the Capitol in the way that protesters did on January 6, but this is the leftist talking point that has become widely accepted in outlets like MSNBC.

Kirschner pointed to recent DOJ actions as evidence that Trump was the actual target.

DOJ galvanizing?

First, the DOJ requested the over 1,000 transcripts from the January 6 committee, and then it began to subpoena high-ranking Trump officials like Navarro to testify before them.

“And people are going to be screaming bloody murder. Why haven’t they been indicted? And that, it feels to me like all of a sudden DOJ is in full sprint, anticipating what we are all about to see,” he said.

Whether or not the DOJ will indict Trump is still very up in the air. The Biden DOJ would like to go after him legally, even though that action amounts to using the DOJ to take out a political rival.

But as Trump said, “The people see right through that sham. They see a cynical politician who ran for office promising unity who is now doing the most divisive thing possible—slandering his political opponents as domestic terrorists, just like insecure dictators do in communist countries.”
