Multiple Democrats turning on Biden over his failure in Afghanistan

Several Democrats have now turned on President Joe Biden following his failed leadership in Afghanistan.

Texas Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez tweeted on Monday, “There’s no way to hide it. The situation in Afghanistan is another shame on this admin.”

He added, “Withdrawal was never going to be easy but it didn’t need to come to this. The US must do everything in its power to help our partners & allies to safety & protect our national security.”

Exit Strategy a “Failure”

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Dean Phillips added, “While our Afghanistan exit strategy has been a failure, the decision to do so remains the correct one. Over twenty years we’ve lost 2,300 Americans, suffered 20,000 injuries, spent $2.2 trillion, trained 300,000 Afghani troops, and most of the county fell in just days.

He added in another post, “My heart breaks for the Americans and Afghanis who gave their lives and livelihoods to securing a new future for Afghanistan, but history shows that securing brighter futures must come from within a nation. It’s almost never possible – or advisable – from the outside.”

“My Heart Has Broken”

Colorado Republican Rep. Jason Crow who served in Afghanistan tweeted, “My heart has broken. Like most vets, I left part of me in AFG.”

He added, “Later we’ll debate the failures of last 20 yrs, but today our mission is clear: hold the airport as long as possible and get ALL U.S. citizens and as many Afghan partners out as we can. We will debate the rest later.”

Many suggest Biden’s failure in Afghanistan will be his defining moment. If so, it will be a highly negative one, leaving an entire nation under the power of the Taliban and its violence.

Many Democratic lawmakers are understandably frustrated with the outcome, leading them to criticize their own party’s leader in an effort to improve the situation.
