Multiple polls show Joe Biden’s support has collapsed

Although President Joe Biden has recently become a historic figure in American politics, he probably isn’t happy about the reason.

According to an article put out this week, Biden’s approval numbers have collapsed to the point where he is now the most unpopular president since World War II.

Poll shows that even Democrats are turning away from the president

“After nearly a year-and-a-half in office, President Joe Biden has become historically unpopular,” Western Journal contributor Abby Liebing wrote, noting, “Few past presidents have seen such wide disapproval.”

FiveThirtyEight’s polling aggregate shows that the president’s most recent average approval rating stands at 40.8%. Meanwhile, a whopping 54.5% of Americans disapprove of his job performance.

Some individual surveys put his numbers even lower, with a poll conducted by Reuters/Ipsos between May 23 and May 24 showing Biden’s approval rating as 36%.

The survey pointed out that dislike of the president isn’t just limited to Republicans and independent voters as he has also lost ground among members of his own party.

It showed that only 72% of Democrats express approval of Biden, which represents a decline of four points from the week prior.

Biden’s numbers on the economy and immigration are especially weak

Another recent poll from Harvard CAPS-Harris suggests that much of the dissatisfaction is tied to economic concerns.

Conducted among registered voters, it reported that a mere 35% favor Biden’s approach to the economy and just 33% like how he has handled inflation. Further, 85% said the U.S. is either in a recession or will be in one next year.

The president’s record regarding America’s border crisis received low marks as well, with only 38% supporting him on immigration. COVID was the only major issue on which Biden was not underwater, with 52% voicing approval.

Interestingly, the 40% of respondents who said they strongly disapproved of the president’s performance outnumbered those who expressed strong approval by more than two to one.

“Biden continues to struggle with the job and is particularly being slammed by the voters over inflation and immigration,” pollster Mark Penn was quoted by The Hill as saying. “No president has been reelected with numbers like these on job performance.”
