Members of President Joe Biden’s administration have long promoted vaccination as being the most effective way to halt the spread of COVID-19.
Yet despite touting their vaccinated status, several White House figures have still managed to contract the virus.Â
Interior secretary sick even after two booster shots
That fact was evident from an article published by The Hill this week which noted that on Wednesday, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland became the most recent high-level official to announce a positive test.
According to the Associated Press, Haaland was tested after she began exhibiting mild symptoms. She is both fully vaccinated and has received two booster shots.
What’s more, The Hill contributor Jared Gans pointed out how Haaland is far from being the only administration official to contract COVID, with Labor Secretary Marty Walsh making a similar announcement the day earlier.Â
Today I tested positive for COVID-19. I’m grateful to be both vaccinated and boosted, and am only experiencing mild symptoms. I will continue to isolate and follow CDC guidelines as I look forward to a quick recovery.

A spokesperson for Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra also confirmed last month that he had been diagnosed with COVID last month while traveling to Berlin for a conference of G7 health ministers.
That declaration concerning Becerra came less than two weeks after it was revealed Secretary of State Antony Blinken had COVID as well.
“Secretary Blinken is grateful to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who provide the State Department workforce with exemplary health services around the world and encourages all Americans who are eligible to get fully vaccinated and boosted to protect themselves and their loved ones from developing severe COVID-19 disease,” The Hill quoted a statement as saying.
Mini outbreak following dinner
The Hill reported in April that Attorney General Merrick Garland was found to have COVID following his attendance at Washington’s annual Gridiron Dinner.
Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo was another attendee at the event and she too tested positive along with several House Democrats.
The Hill noted that other Biden cabinet members who have contract COVID includes Vice President Kamala Harris, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
