Paul Pelosi, the venture capitalist husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), was arrested this Memorial Day weekend for driving drunk.
Pelosi, 82, crashed his car into another vehicle while going for a joyride in California’s wine country on Saturday night, according to reports.
Paul Pelosi nabbed for DUI
According to the police, Pelosi was driving in his 2021 Porsche close to 10:30 p.m. when he blew a stop sign and crashed into a man driving a Jeep, Jesus V. Lopez, 48.
Pelosi was attempting to cross a highway, State Route 29, from a country road when he drove directly into the path of Lopez — just five miles from a luxurious vineyard that the Pelosis own in Napa Valley.
Pelosi was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher, which are both misdemeanors. He was booked early Sunday morning and was out by 8:00 a.m after posting $5,000 bail.
Neighbors did not know about the arrest, the Daily Mail reported. One neighbor of the millionaire power couple said he can usually tell when the Pelosis are in town because they block the road with their large security detail.
“I wouldn’t be going to the kinds of fundraisers and parties they go to,” the neighbor said. “I don’t like them very much or find them very interesting.”
Pelosi’s embarrassed wife, who was in Rhode Island giving a speech Sunday at Brown University, shared a terse statement providing her alibi.
“The speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” her spokesperson said.
The couple have been married since 1963 and share five kids together.
Of course, America’s “elites” have been decadent for a long time (Chappaquiddick, anybody?) but it is only recently that they adopted the habit of incessantly browbeating ordinary Americans for their imagined sins.
It isn’t very surprising to find that the “elites” who are running the country into the ground are as reckless in their personal lives.
