Navarro’s arrest comes 1 day after vowing to get Biden impeached: Report

Breitbart News reports that Peter Navarro’s recent arrest came just one day after the former White House adviser vowed to advocate for President Joe Biden’s impeachment should Republicans, as predicted, win back Congress later this year.

Navarro made the pledge on Thursday during an appearance on MSNBC.

There, Navarro said:

You bet your a** that I will lead the charge. I will take [Congressmen] Adam Schiff and Jamie Raskin, and Nancy Pelosi and [Elaine] Luria and all of those clowns and kangaroos. I’ll take Biden and every single staff member in there – We’ll put them with subpoenas, and we’ll start with the impeachment of Biden. For what? Ukraine, the southern border, all manner of things.

The arrest

Just a day after this interview, Navarro was arrested as he was about to board a plane to Nashville, Tennessee, for a television appearance. The FBI placed Navarro in handcuffs and escorted him to jail.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has released Navarro’s indictment. It states that Navarro was arrested for criminal contempt of Congress.

The DOJ, here, is acting on a referral from the partisan Jan. 6 House committee that is supposedly investigating the Capitol protest that occurred last January. Critics, however, maintain that the committee’s real purpose, as demonstrated by Navarro’s arrest, is to target former President Donald Trump and his associates.

Back in March, the Jan. 6 committee voted to refer a criminal contempt of Congress indictment to the DOJ on the grounds that Navarro refused to comply with a subpoena issued by the committee. It is this referral that the DOJ acted on by arresting Navarro on Friday.

Navarro has already made his first court appearance, and, during that appearance, he accused the prosecution of acting in “bad faith.” He also alleged that the DOJ “colluded” with the White House and Congress,” and he called for his case to be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court.

Many are now arguing that it is no coincidence that Navarro was arrested just a day after vowing to lead the charge to impeach Biden.

After he was released from custody, Navarro joined those making this argument.

“They responded with effectively the same kind of thing you’d see in Stalin’s Russia or the Chinese Communist Party,” Navarro said. “I note interestingly for the record, the only two people that have been indicted on criminal charges are me and Steve Bannon.”

“There was no reason on God’s good Earth for what they did today to an American citizen,” Navarro added. “That did not have to happen. It’s terrorism, it’s coercion. There’s no excuse for what they did today. America needs to know this.”
