NBC makes new revelation about Paul Pelosi attack, then retracts it

Fox News reports that NBC News has now retracted a bombshell revelation that it made about the violent attack that was recently carried out on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

By now, the general narrative of the attack has been well established: David DePape, a 42-year-old illegal immigrant from Canada, broke into Pelosi’s San Francisco, California home in the early hours of the morning to confront Nancy Pelosi but because she wasn’t there, he confronted Paul Pelosi and that confrontation ended with DePape hitting Paul Pelosi with a hammer.

However, many questions about this narrative remain, including about the security — or lack thereof — at Pelosi’s residence.

Those questions only intensified after NBC’s bombshell revelation.

“Everything’s good”

It was during Friday’s broadcast of NBC’s Today that the bombshell revelation was made.

NBC News national correspondent Miguel Almaguer reported:

Sources familiar with what unfolded in the Pelosi residence [are] now revealing when officers responded to the “high priority call,” they were seemingly unaware they’ve been called to the home of the Speaker of the House. After a “knock and announce,” the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi. The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or try to leave his home but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant and away from police. It’s unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured or what his mental state was, say sources. [emphasis added]

That’s not all.

Almaguer continued:

According to court documents, when the officer asked what was going on, defendant smiled and said “everything’s good” but instantaneously a struggle ensued as police clearly saw David DePape strike Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer. After tackling the suspect, officers rushed to Mr. Pelosi who was lying in a pool of blood. [emphasis added]

NBC retracts the revelation and goes into hiding

These revelations set the social media world ablaze with speculation. Why did Paul Pelosi not show any signs of distress? Why did he smile and say “everything’s good”? Why were the cops seemingly oblivious to what was supposed to be going on? Etc.

Now, the mystery grows even bigger as NBC has decided to retract its reporting. The outlet explains, “this piece has been removed from publication because it did not meet NBC News reporting standards.”

Ever since the retraction, NBC has been silent.

The big question is whether NBC’s reporting was just bad/wrong or whether the story was pulled for a different reason. Regardless, surely, there is more to the attack than what the public is currently being told. And, if that’s the case, then why are the additional details being kept secret?
