NBC reporters are concerned that Jen Psaki’s new job at MSNBC will hurt what remains of The Peacock’s post-Trump journalistic credibility.
NBC News president Noah Oppenheim even had an “impromptu” phone call to reassure disgruntled staffers about the hiring, according to a CNN report.
NBC journos upset with Psaki’s hiring
The head honcho told his workers that Psaki’s move to MSNBC had nothing to do with the NBC News brand, a person on the call said.
“Here’s what he was saying: They have perspective programming. This was done on the perspective programming side. Not anything that reflects on NBC News,” the person said.
They continued, “People wanted answers on what NBC’s role was in this and NBC News had no role in this. This is MSNBC’s perspective programming.”
While it is not unusual for White House officials to get jobs as cable news contributors, Psaki is reportedly going to be hosting her own show.
Psaki was confronted about her career move last week by an NBC journalist who asked whether it posed a conflict of interest.
Propagandists fret over “credibility”
With characteristic glibness, the press secretary said that she is following the necessary “ethical” rules.
“I have always gone over and above the stringent ethical and legal requirements of the Biden administration and I take that very seriously,” she said. “And as a standard for every employee of the White House, I have received rigorous ethics counseling, including as it relates to any future employment,” she added.
In her time as the face of the Biden regime’s propaganda machine, Psaki has become known for her sneering tone and often preposterous talking points.
Just this week, she claimed that President Biden has never talked to his son Hunter about his business deals and that a COVID-positive Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) kissing President Biden on the cheek does not qualify as “close contact.”
How much damage could Psaki do? NBC, which is home to liberal propaganda programs like Chuck Todd’s Meet the Press, doesn’t have much credibility with Americans outside the liberal bubble anyway. Maybe NBC is just worried that hiring Psaki will make their liberal bias a little too obvious?
