While former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has often portrayed the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill as being a threat to democracy, newly-released footage of her daughter undercuts that narrative.

According to the Daily Caller, the video was obtained by the Gateway Pundit and was supplied to Aubrey Webb, who is defending former Proud Boys member Gabriel Garcia on charges stemming from the riot.

"What did the shaman do?"

The footage shows Alexandra Pelosi speaking with Garcia last January about the events of January 6. At the time, she was making a documentary film about her mother.

During various points in the video, Pelosi can be seen expressing sympathy for other defendants and downplaying their actions.

"What did the shaman do?" she asked. "He stood there…. the shaman got how many months, 41, compared to 8… and I think the government… they’re going to get bigger."

Dubbed the "QAnon Shaman," Angeli famously wore a set of buffalo horns on January 6 and was ultimately sentenced to 41 months in prison.

Pelosi says Proud Boys founder is not a white supremacist

"I know you’re not the bad guy," she continued, adding, "I haven’t found the bad guy yet, but if there is, I know you’re not the bad guy."

Pelosi then seemed to dismiss claims by Democrats that January 6 amounted to an insurrection, saying, "If there was an insurrection, you’re supposed to be in line marching… you’re supposed to have a plan."

Later, Pelosi suggested that the Proud Boys had been unfairly maligned and denied that the group's founder, Gavin McInnes, is a white supremacist.

"I know Gavin McInnes, I went on road trips with him to parties," she recalled. "It was so comical to me when I first started hearing about like 'Proud Boys are supremacist.' This was, like, years ago, when they started saying… in Brooklyn, where he’s from. I was like… 'What?'"

President linked attack on Paul Pelosi to January 6

For his part, Webb told the Daily Caller that the former House speaker's daughter had effectively exposed what Democrats have said about January 6 as being a lie.

"Pelosi’s candid comments are more proof [of] what everyone already knows– there was no coup, no coup attempt, and no insurrection, and that this is just a political witch hunt against blue collar Americans," Webb said in a statement.

Fox News noted that during his State of the Union address, President Joe Biden attempted to link last year's hammer attack on Paul Pelosi with the Capitol Hill riot.

"According to court filings, the intruder confronted Mr. Pelosi, asking 'Where’s Nancy?,' a similar chant of those responsible for the January 6 Capitol insurrection," he said.
