New poll shows Biden’s support continues to collapse

President Joe Biden has seen his popularity collapse since taking office last year, and the results of a new poll suggest that things aren’t getting any better.

According to Fox News, a survey released by NBC News on Sunday found that the president’s approval rating stands at just 40%. That figure makes for a drop of 3% since January, and stands as Biden’s lowest approval level thus far.

Sharp decline in support

Perhaps most alarming for the president is that his support has gone down sharply among Black voters, who represent a key demographic group for Democrats.

The poll reported that only 64% of Black voters have a favorable impression of how Biden has performed, down two points from January.

The president has also seen a decline in support from Hispanic voters as well, with support from that group dropping from 48% to 39%. Meanwhile, support from women declined from 51% to 44%.

What’s more, the poll contains warning signs for Congressional Democrats as well, with voters now favoring their Republican rivals by two percentage points.

“What this poll says is that President Biden and Democrats are headed for a catastrophic election,” NBC News quoted Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinions Strategy as saying.\

It gets worse

McInturff helped to conduct the survey along with Democrat Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates. Horwitt noted that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine doesn’t seem to be doing Biden any favors.

“One thing that has not happened — at least yet — is a rally-around-the-flag reaction with Joe Biden’s job rating increasing,” Horwitt pointed out.

“The potential for that to occur could still happen if America becomes more directly involved, but at this stage it is not there,” he added.

NBC News noted that the survey was carried out between March 18 March 22, which was before the president made several major gaffes during his trip to Europe.

Fox News reported that in one incident, Biden appeared to tell American troops stationed in Poland that they would soon be heading to Ukraine. At another point, the president seemed to imply that the United States will be pursuing regime change in Russia.
