Gov. Noem denies allegations of extramarital affair with Lewandowski

Allegations of an extramarital affair have been swirling around Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem in recent days.

In response to claims that she had a relationship with Corey Lewandowski, a one-time adviser to former President Donald Trump, the governor has denied what she calls “disgusting” accusations, according to Breitbart.

“Old, tired attacks”

The allegations first surfaced in an article published this week by American Greatness.

Writer Pedro Gonzalez claimed that sources told the site that the alleged affair has become “an open secret,” causing concerns “about Noem’s viability as a national candidate and within the movement.”

For her part, the governor was quick to shoot down any claim that she had been involved in an inappropriate relationship in a tweet on the subject.

“These rumors are total garbage and a disgusting lie,” Noem wrote. “These old, tired attacks on conservative women are based on a falsehood that we can’t achieve anything without a man’s help.”

She also referenced her husband, Byron, and affirmed that she is “proud” of the family they created together, declaring: “Now I’m getting back to work.”

“Accusations and rumors”

Meanwhile, Lewandowski is facing separate sexual harassment claims — and the allegations are said to have led Trump to sever ties with his former adviser. In a statement on Wednesday, a top Trump ally made the ex-president’s position on Lewinski fairly clear.

“Corey Lewandowski will be going on to other endeavors and we very much want to thank him for his service,” said Taylor Budowich. “He will no longer be associated with Trump World.”

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is set to take over for Lewandowski as the head of Trump-related political action committees.

The allegations against Lewandowski stem from a report made by big-money Republican donor Trashelle Odom. She claimed that he groped her at a recent fundraiser and said “vile and disgusting things,” leaving her feeling “violated and fearful.”

Attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld reacted to the claims with a statement defending their client, insisting: “Accusations and rumors appear to be morphing by the minute and we will not dignify them with a further response.”
