Along the 2020 campaign trail, Joe Biden repeatedly pledged that he would work to unify the country if he won the White House. But rather than unity, one top Republican charges that President Biden has delivered something else to the American people: “chaos.”
During an appearance Saturday on Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC) broke down the damage that has been done in just a few short months under Biden’s watch.
“Well, it is not a crisis. It’s chaos,” Graham told host Jeanine Pirro of the current situation at the U.S.–Mexico border, according to Breitbart. “I was down there just a few weeks ago. We had 172,000 people come to the country illegally in March alone.”
Graham went on: “We’re on track to do two million. The Border Patrol told the Biden administration during the transition, if you reverse Trump policies, there will be a run on the border. They were right.”
Tensions at all-time highs
Of course, the South Carolina lawmaker didn’t just express concern about domestic issues. Speaking with Pirro on Saturday, Graham also took note of rising tensions on the world stage.
“I’ve never been more worried than I am now about the world at large, writ large,” the senator insisted, according to Breitbart. “You’ve got the Russians threatening to go into Ukraine. You’ve got the Chinese threatening Taiwan.
“So Joe Biden has created a lot of instability in a very short period of time, and if he doesn’t change his policies on the border, the worse is yet to come,” Graham predicted ominously.
“If he doesn’t get tougher with the Iranians, they are going to have a bomb before you know it,” he said. “I’m really worried about the world under the Biden administration. They are clueless in my view in terms of the threats we face at the border and abroad.”
The Biden-Harris administration
Graham is far from alone in saying that the Biden administration appears ill-equipped to handle the challenges of a recent surge in migration — and that criticism doesn’t just extend to the president.
Vice President Kamala Harris has also taken flak for failing to visit the border despite Biden announcing almost a month ago that she would be the one overseeing efforts to address the crisis.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn (R) reacted angrily after Harris laughed when a reporter asked her last month if she would be going to the border. “It’s no laughing matter,” Cornyn told Fox News.
He added: “I wish the vice president and president would come to the border, I’ll be glad to welcome them there to learn what I’ve learned, talking to the experts, the Border Patrol, Health and Human Services, as well as the local officials and stakeholders who are bearing the burden of this open border policy of this administration.” The clock is ticking.
