New York City Mayor Eric Adams attended a Communist flag-raising in Manhattan on Sunday, marking the anniversary of when mass murderer Mao Zedong brought Communism to China.
Along with Adams, New York State Assemblywoman Grace Lee and New York City Council member Christopher Marte were present for a “China Day Celebration Parade Festival” in Chinatown.
Adams' attendance at the festival follows recent reports that he has close ties to and has received financial donations from China’s United Front Work Department (UFWD), which is focused on foreign interference operations that pretend to be outreach, charity, or education programs.
Huang Ping, the high-ranking Chinese government official in New York, said he was "deeply moved" by Adams' attendance at the festival and said it proved the “great support of the overseas Chinese for China’s development and the friendly cooperation between China and the US.”
“Let’s continue to show solidarity and work together for a better relationship between our two peoples,” Huang urged.
He then posted on X, “Happy Birthday to my motherland! Congratulations to all Chinese compatriots!”
A press release from the Chinese consulate said that Adams "delivered remarks" at the event.
"China Day" became an official holiday in New York State in 2019 when the legislature created it, so people can hardly fault Adams for participating in it on that basis.
Adams posted on X that he was "proud" to be part of the celebration.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

It's not even close to the first Chinese event Adams has attended in the city; it's obvious that he has made it a priority to cozy up to the Chinese community every chance he gets.
Why would he not, if they are paying for his campaigning?
The problem is, there's a big investigation going on into elements of the PRC making their own secret police stations in the city, including charges back in April against at least one contributor to Adams' campaign, “Harry” Lu Jianwang, with whom he met personally before the charges came down.
These close connections with Chinese who may be doing corrupt and illegal things is not a good look for Adams, and may damage him politically if he's not careful.
