Obama chewed out his White House doctor for calling out Biden’s decline in 2020

Barack Obama rebuked his former White House doctor for taking a “cheap shot” at then-candidate Joe Biden by drawing attention to Biden’s obvious cognitive issues during the 2020 campaign, according to a new book.

In Holding the Line: A Lifetime of Defending Democracy and American Values, Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tx.) writes about receiving a sharply worded e-mail chewing him out for his “unprofessional” behavior, Fox News reports.

Jackson was upset that the media, which had spent years feverishly speculating about President Trump’s health, was staying quiet about Biden’s many gaffes on the campaign trail — so he decided to say something on Twitter.

“Remember the cognitive test that I gave @realDonaldTrump? The one he aced! Sounds like somebody else might need some testing done!! Scary!!” he tweeted.

Within minutes, he says, Obama responded with a lengthy, sanctimonious message calling Jackson’s tweet “beneath the office that you once held.” Obama told Jackson, a Navy veteran, that he considered him “not only a fine doctor and service member but also a friend” and snapped, “I expect better.”

“That’s why I have to express my disappointment at the cheap shot you took at Joe Biden via Twitter. It was unprofessional and beneath the office that you once held. It was also disrespectful to me and the many friends you had in our administration,” Obama wrote.

“You were the personal physician to the President of the United States as well as an admiral in the U.S. Navy. I expect better, and I hope upon reflection that you will expect more of yourself in the future.”

Jackson vindicated as the media change its tone

Jackson said he blew Obama off — and that was the end of their relationship.

The former doctor for Obama, Trump, and George W. Bush is claiming vindication as formerly Biden-friendly media outlets begin cautiously acknowledging that he is too old for his job.

“I’ve always said there would come a point where it wouldn’t be just me talking about it, but his own party, and sadly, that has proven to be the case. Joe Biden’s cognitive failures are on full display for the whole world to see,” Jackson told Fox News Digital.

The New York Times reported recently that Biden’s age has become an “uncomfortable issue” for Democrats as a New York Times/Siena College poll found that 64 percent of Democrats do not want him to run for re-election.

While the media is only now showing interest in covering Biden’s decline, it wasn’t a well-kept secret in 2020. Then-candidate Biden was known to frequently get confused about his whereabouts and memorably described the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence as “the thing.”
