Late last month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tightened its COVID-19 guidance by demanding that even vaccinated Americans resume wearing masks. Although welcomed by many prominent Democrats, others in the party are clearly not playing by the new rules.
Pictures from former President Barack Obama’s weekend birthday party extravaganza clearly show guests unmasked and in close proximity to one another, the New York Post reported.
According to the Post, an estimated 700 people congregated in a massive tent at Obama’s $12 million oceanside mansion, located on Martha’s Vineyard.
They’re “laughing at us”
Republican Party consultant Ryan James Girdusky derided the gathering in light of recent warnings from the Biden administration concerning breakthrough COVID-19 cases among the fully vaccinated.
“It’s hypocrisy at its finest and shows they don’t believe what they are saying,” Girdusky said of Obama’s 60th birthday bash. He pointed out that the massive party took place even as Americans are being told to comply with ever more onerous restrictions.
House Republican Caucus Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) also spoke up, saying, “The liberal elites are laughing at us, attempting to sell this as a ‘scaled-back party.'”
The 700 people in attendance apparently represented a “scaled-down” gathering as a much larger party was said to have been originally planned.
“Had to delete everything”
Still, Martha’s Vineyard resident and renowned attorney Alan Dershowitz remarked that even with fewer guests, the affair still caused consternation among locals.
“People didn’t want to disrespect him or throw ice on the party but everybody I spoke to was upset that 700 people would be congregating under a tent,” Dershowitz explained.
Dershowitz added: “There was a lot of upset about that and a lot of people on the Vineyard are happy he scaled it back. Everyone but Larry David because he got dissed.”
The post also noted that a musical performer at Obama’s birthday party posted multiple pictures to social media that have since been taken down.
“Had to delete everything due to the rules,” the artist later admitted. “It was epic for sure. If any videos surface it’s going viral. He danced the whole time. Nobody ever seen Obama like this before.”
