Together with his business partner Frank Trumbetti, Ian Smith owns a New Jersey gym that was targeted by the state’s onerous coronavirus restrictions.
He recently called out lawmakers who refuse to follow the rules that they push on others. Among those on the list is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was recently caught on camera getting her hair done in a government-closed San Francisco salon.
“This is not about public health. It’s about control and power,” the Washington Examiner quoted Smith as saying on Wednesday. “These people think they are above the law. These people need to be put in their place. They are out of control. They think that they are rulers. They forget that they are elected public servants. Things need to change, and now.”
Pelosi is one of those public servants: video footage has emerged showing the California Democrat inside a hair salon with no mask on. Watch below:

“It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work,” salon owner Erica Kious complained. “We’re supposed to look up to this woman, right?”
During a subsequent interview with Fox News personality Tucker Carlson, the salon owner said that she has been inundated with threatening messages since the incident and may need to move.
Kious wasn’t the only one to complain about the House speaker’s conduct. President Donald Trump also excoriated her hypocrisy on Twitter.
“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is being decimated for having a beauty parlor opened, when all others are closed, and for not wearing a Mask – despite constantly lecturing everyone else,” he tweeted. “We will almost certainly take back the House, and send Nancy packing!”
Pelosi claims innocence
Pelosi spokesperson Drew Hammill responded with a statement, claiming that Pelosi believed that she was following the rules and was misled by the establishment.
“The Speaker always wears a mask and complies with local COVID requirements,” the statement read, even though the footage clearly shows that Pelosi did not have a mask on while inside the salon.
Smith is having none of it, telling the Washington Examiner that Pelosi’s behavior is just another example of the double standards that powerful Democrats seem to live by.
“[Murphy] dines indoors. The Philadelphia mayor is doing the same,” Smith said. “The governor of Michigan is telling people that they can’t go to their lake houses but is going to hers.”
