House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) reimposed this week a strict mask mandate on all House members, staffers, and visitors — and this time, it’s backed up with the threat of enforcement by U.S. Capitol Police.
But as is her hypocritical nature, Pelosi was spotted contravening her own order repeatedly on Friday, appearing sans mask inside the Capitol building on multiple occasions, Breitbart reported.
Photo ops trump “science”
The first instance of Speaker Pelosi going maskless came during the swearing-in ceremony for Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-TX), who recently won a special election in Texas’ 6th Congressional District.
While Pelosi and the new congressman, plus his family, were all wearing masks initially as they stood in close proximity, they all removed their masks in order to pose and smile for pictures — since, apparently, the virus stands down and doesn’t attack during photo ops, or something.

No mask for the speaker
Just a short time later, Pelosi was spotted again without a mask on while inside the Capitol, this time surrounded by a group of Democratic House leaders for a press conference. Pelosi was the only one who appeared to violate her own mandate; fellow Democrats on stage were appropriately masked up.
Even more noteworthy is the fact that even after Pelosi finished speaking — which would likely be seized upon as an excuse to remove her mask — and stepped aside, she did not put her mask back on.
It stood in stark contrast to the member who stepped to the podium after her, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), who was wearing his mask and kept it on even as he addressed the reporters in the room.

An “amazing scene” of a maskless Pelosi
Even more stunning was an “amazing scene” that occurred either just before or after that press conference, when a Politico reporter shared a picture of numerous Democratic lawmakers all standing together in a large lobby area inside the Capitol building. Of course, conservative pundit Stephen Miller found it “amazing” for a different reason.
