Gayle King calls out Pelosi for referring to Trump associates as ‘henchmen’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) just got called out by an unexpected source.

Gayle King, the CBS journalist and longtime friend of Oprah Winfrey, criticized Pelosi on Friday for having referred to associates and allies of President Donald Trump as “henchmen.”

What Pelosi said

It was back in August that Pelosi first started arguing that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden ought not to participate in a debate with Trump. She said at the time that Biden shouldn’t “legitimize a conversation with [Trump], nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States.”

Just before the weekend, Pelosi picked this line of argument back up in a CBS interview with King. Watch:

“I just think that the president has no fidelity to fact or truth, and actually in his comments the last few days, no fidelity to the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi said. “He and his henchmen are a danger with their comments, are a danger to our democracy.”

She added, “I didn’t want to give him, you know, why bother — you know, he doesn’t tell the truth. He isn’t committed to our Constitution, but Joe Biden is right.”

King’s rebuke

It was at this point that King jumped in. “But Speaker Pelosi, that’s what people say is the problem,” King said. “Your language to some is just as egregious as what they’re saying by calling the president’s people ‘henchmen.’ Some could say that’s just as insulting as what he’s saying about you.”

It was a bit surprising to hear King say this, especially considering her background with the Obamas and with Oprah — and liberal social media users reacted furiously. Pelosi, however, took it on the chin.

“Well, I don’t care what he says about me,” Pelosi replied. “Every knock from him is a boost for me. If he wants to help me raise money, he can keep knocking me. But I’m speaking truth.”

We’re not sure about that. But, it is pretty clear that just about every attack on Trump by Pelosi and the Democrats results in a win for Trump.

Biden and his campaign are not listening to Pelosi anyway. They are gearing up for the first debate which is set to take place on Tuesday night.
