Fresh on the heels of her husband’s drunk driving arrest, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is getting headlines for some bad behavior of her own.
The House Speaker is on the defensive after she was seen elbowing the daughter of Republican Mayra Flores (TX) during her swearing-in ceremony.
Pelosi elbows little girl
A widely shared video showed Pelosi gesticulating in her wild fashion during a photo-op and then turning to Flores’ daughter, who stood to Pelosi’s side. Pelosi then appeared to elbow the girl, who stepped back into her spot.

Some commented on the incident by mocking Pelosi’s favorite catchphrase, “for the children.”
Flores said she is proud of her daughter, who appeared to barely react to Pelosi’s shove.
“No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!” she tweeted. “I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her…She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen.”
Pelosi complains of spin
But Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill complained of misleading media spin, saying Pelosi was trying to make sure Flores’ daughter “wouldn’t be hidden behind” Pelosi.
That is one possibility. Or….a notoriously vain and childish career politician pushed a kid because they got a little too close to Her Highness. We’ll let the viewer decide.
Hammill also shared a video of Pelosi “graciously” — emphasis on “graciously” — interacting with Flores, who was born in Mexico, and her children.
Flores flipped a heavily Hispanic border district in a special election earlier this month, bringing it under GOP control for the first time in over a century. She still has to win a full term in November.
