Pelosi announces ‘election reform’ will be priority on ‘day one’ of upcoming legislative session

Even as the ballots were still being tallied earlier this week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had her eye on future races.

She sent a letter to House colleagues to serve as notice that Democrats would be pursuing “election reform” on the first day of the new legislative session next year, as reported by Breitbart.

“Exploit and expand voter fraud loopholes”

For their part, some Republican lawmakers are sounding the alarm over fears that such measures would lead to even more election fraud.

Nevertheless, Pelosi promised that the upcoming “Democratic House will proudly pass our election reform, anti-corruption, and voting rights legislation by passing H.R. 1 on the first day of the new Congress.”

Related measures passed in the House last year might shed light on what type of reform the Democratic majority will attempt to pass before the next election cycle.

Denouncing the “For the People Act” at the time, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said that it “does its best to exploit and expand voter fraud loopholes.”

The stated effort of those behind this bill, which failed upon reaching the Senate, was in part to expand voting opportunities. Opponents, however, asserted that it sought to criminalize political speech and force taxpayers to fund campaigns they oppose.

“Dilute and undermine the voting power”

“Let me emphasize that the long term goal of Socialist Democrats is to dilute and undermine the voting power of American citizens,” Brooks alleged last year.

As of this writing, it appears that the GOP will retain control of the Senate for the upcoming session, though two runoff elections in Georgia set for January will be necessary before the count is official.

Given the concern surrounding alleged voter fraud in the 2020 election, however, plenty of Americans are sure to be concerned about the direction Pelosi and House Democrats want to take future elections.

Ahead of the presidential race being called for Democratic nominee Joe Biden, Trump campaign sources and allies expanded their claims of widespread fraud and voter suppression in the race.

As Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani alleged in the wake of Tuesday’s election: “This is a concerted effort of the crooks who run the Democrat Party.”
