Although President Joe Biden seems to be the most addled and forgetful politician in Washington these days, he may have a close second in none other than the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who, at 81 years old, is arguably the most powerful woman in the world.
During a CNN interview on Sunday, Pelosi appeared to forget former President Donald Trump’s name, calling him “what’s-his-name” instead.
According to Fox News, the gaffe came about when Jake Tapper was asking about Biden’s willingness to get rid of the filibuster.
“Do you agree with him on that one issue that, at the end of the day, having some sort of voting rights bill is more important than preserving the filibuster, at least for that one vote?” Tapper asked.
According to Fox, Pelosi agreed that it would be worth getting rid of the filibuster for Democrats to get the so-called Voting Rights Act passed. The bill would make it easy to cheat on elections by forcing states to allow unverified mail-in voting and other stipulations that make elections less secure.
After Pelosi said this, however, she followed up with this statement: “Now mind you, just to remind, when what’s-his-name was president and the Republicans were in power—”
“Donald Trump,” Tapper supplied.
“Mitch McConnell pulled back the filibuster to enable with simple majorities three justices to go to the Supreme Court for life. You would think that they could pull it back for the American people to have the vote,” the speaker finished, as Fox reported.
Fox also noted that Pelosi had previously confused Trump’s name with another former president, George W. Bush, in 2018 when she was accusing him of a cover-up. “This is a cover-up by the Republicans to protect President Bush, excuse me, President Trump in this investigation,” she said at the time.
“It’s about the Constitution”
“It’s the most important vote. It’s about the Constitution,” Pelosi said Sunday of the voting bill.
Does she really believe this garbage, or does Pelosi just want to secure permanent Democrat electability before she retires and rides off into retirement with the ill-gotten millions she obtained in her decades of public service?
Maybe the speaker’s delusions go a whole lot further than forgetting Trump’s name once or twice.
