House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) were reportedly spotted Tuesday night at a Washington bar without mask, violating the city’s mandate.
The video obtained by The Daily Caller showed the two Democrats talking with a group at Swingers in Dupont Circle.
The current mask mandate in D.C. says “any business or establishment open to members of the public (including but not limited to: grocery stores, restaurants and bars (when not eating or drinking), places of worship, gyms, office buildings, libraries, indoor entertainment venues, and common areas of apartment or condominium complexes).”
Fines for Thee, Not for Me
The controversy comes as Pelosi’s mask mandate in the House has led to massive fines among some GOP members.
Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) noted this week she is now “over $63,000” in fines over refusing to wear a mask in the House.
“I won’t be getting vaccinated. And that’s my own personal choice,” she told The Hill.
”I support people that want the vaccine. If anybody wanted one, I would drive them to go get one because I support people’s freedom to make their own decision. But I do not want to get the vaccine myself, and I don’t need to wear a mask. It’s not changing anything.”
The current fine is $500 for a first occurrence and $2,500 for additional occurrences.
Along with Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ralph Norman (R-NC), Greene has filed a lawsuit against Pelosi over the fees, calling them unconstitutional.
Georgia’s Rep. Andrew Clyde has also joined Greene’s practice of refusing to wear a mask in the House. He has reportedly been fined at least $15,500 for not complying.
At least for Washington, D.C., most places will end the mask mandate on Nov. 22.

“Face coverings will continue to be required on public transportation and in schools, congregate housing facilities and government buildings where the public interacts with employees. Private businesses will still be allowed to enforce a mask requirement,” according to the Townhall report.
