Pelosi’s entire office at risk from Texas Democrat ‘super-spreader’

According to The Hill, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) may have been compromised by a COVID-19 “super-spreader” brought to Washington, D.C. by a group of “heroic” Texas Democrats who sought to block an election bill in their home state.

A fully vaccinated Pelosi staffer tested positive following a meeting with the Texas Democrats, who also sickened a fully vaccinated White House staffer.

Pelosi back in mask

Pelosi was spotted in a mask Tuesday and the Capitol was on high alert after several weeks in which human faces had been more visible, The Hill noted.

The reason for the sudden disquiet: A group of state lawmakers from Texas who absconded to Washington to block a voting bill. They were hailed as heroes by fellow Democrats before six of them, all vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19.

Top Pelosi staffer Drew Hammill said the staffer, a “fully vaccinated senior spokesperson,” has had no contact with Pelosi, 81, who is also vaccinated.

“The entire Press Office is working remotely today with the exception of individuals who have had no exposure to the individual or have had a recent negative test,” Hammill said.

He added: “Our office will continue to follow the guidance of the Office of Attending Physician closely.”

WH downplays “super-spreader”

Pelosi said that she feels sorry for the staffer and that his infection is “all the more reason for all of us to be vaccinated,” Fox News noted.

The White House has been similarly spinning the bad news as a “reminder of the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccines against severe illness or hospitalization” after one of its staffers, also fully vaccinated, came down with “mild symptoms.” The person did not have close contact with President Joe Biden.

“The news today is that while breakthrough cases will happen, the vaccines are effective and prevent serious illness and death,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

An undisclosed number of other vaccinated staffers have had “breakthrough” infections, Psaki said. Vice President Kamala Harris was also exposed, but she tested negative, Fox News reported.

Still, the Biden administration is not calling the outbreak a “super-spreader” as it ramps up pressure on unvaccinated Americans. Far from it, as Psaki said that the White House is grateful to the Texas Democrats “for standing up for voting rights.” Can’t make it up, really.
