Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca.) went ducking for cover when asked about her husband’s controversial stock purchases Thursday.
Pelosi denied ever sharing secrets with her husband and abruptly stormed out of her weekly press conference, Breitbart reported.
Pelosi runs from insider trading question
Pelosi’s venture capitalist husband, Paul Pelosi, recently bought millions of dollars’ worth in shares in the semiconductor company Nvidia.
The controversial move came ahead of a Senate vote on a $52 billion subsidy to the semiconductor industry. The trade was just the latest by Paul Pelosi to raise eyebrows.
When asked to explain whether she had ever shared non-public information with her husband that influenced his stock trades, Nancy Pelosi appeared almost insulted by the question. She leaned forward and asked the reporter to repeat it.
“No! Absolutely not,” Pelosi said, before walking away from the podium with a wide grin plastered on her face.
The evasion was just the latest attempt by Pelosi to dodge accusations that she and her husband have gotten rich off of insider trading.

In her defense, Speaker Pelosi told Fox News that while her husband owns stocks, she doesn’t own any — a pretty obvious dodge if there ever was one.
“The Speaker does not own any stocks. As you can see from the required disclosures, with which the Speaker fully cooperates, these transactions are marked ‘SP’ for Spouse. The Speaker has no prior knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions,” her spokesman, Drew Hammill, said.
While it is illegal for lawmakers to engage in insider trading, the difficulty of enforcing the ban has led to pressure to ban lawmakers from making stock trades, period. Pelosi has said that she is opposed to such a ban, citing the “free market.”
Pelosi and her husband are multi-millionaires with multiple luxurious estates to their name, including a vineyard in California’s wine country. Paul Pelosi was recently charged with drunk driving after he crashed his car late at night on Memorial Day weekend.
