Pelosi’s husband kicked out of police charity group following DUI arrest

Fox News reports that a California law enforcement association has revoked the lifetime membership of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) husband, Paul Pelosi.

This comes as a direct result of Paul Pelosi’s DUI arrest that took place on May 28, when an inebriated Pelosi struck, with his Porsche, another vehicle, injuring the driver.

Recently, Pelosi pled guilty to the DUI charge. As was expected, he did manage to avoid jail time. Instead, he received a sentence of three years probation, of having to pay restitution to the victim, of having to install an ignition device on his vehicle for a year, and of having to participate in a three-month DUI program.

Following his guilty plea, images and videos from the night of Pelosi’s arrest were released.

“Effective immediately”

The police association that has given Pelosi the boot is the California Highway Patrol 11-99 (CHP 11-99) Foundation. The foundation sent a termination letter to Pelosi on Wednesday, asking for him to return all CHP 11-99 membership items in his possession.

“After evaluating the events that [led] to Mr. Pelosi’s arrest and conviction, we are revoking Mr. Pelosi’s lifetime membership with the CHP 11-99 Foundation effective immediately,” the foundation said.

The foundation had previously opened up an investigation of Pelosi’s membership status following his DUI arrest. It was just waiting to get all of the facts before issuing its decision.

“Reflected poorly”

The foundation, in particular, took issue with the fact that Pelosi, on the night of his arrest, appeared to try to avoid arrest by presenting his 11-99 Foundation identification credentials.

“The mere presentation of his 11-99 Foundation identification credentials to law enforcement made it appear that he was presenting them for preferential treatment whether that was the case or not which violates the terms and conditions he agreed to on his membership application,” the foundation said.

“These actions reflected poorly on the 11-99 Foundation and undermined our important mission,” the foundation added.

The foundation is now waiting for Pelosi to return all of his membership items. Then, the foundation plans to refund the money that Pelosi has donated to the foundation, per the foundation’s member termination policy.

Pelosi has not commented on the termination.
