Ex-NFL player flees from cops after allegedly attacking ex in front of their child: Reports

A former professional football player was briefly on the run from police after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

According to the New York Post, ex-NFL running back Zac Stacy was arrested on Thursday in Orlando, Florida, in connection with an incident on Saturday involving the mother of his young child.

He was transported to the Orange County Jail and held on charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief.

Caught on video

TMZ provided an early report referencing a disturbing attack caught by in-home cameras, allegedly revealing Stacy attack his ex-girlfriend in front of their child.

The footage is said to show the assailant punching the victim in her head and throwing her like a ragdoll across the room and into a large TV that then toppled onto her.

He allegedly continued to throw objects at her head and stood over her as she cowered on the floor — all of which took place with their 5-month-old son seated just a few feet away.

Fox News reported that the woman immediately called the police to report the incident and file for a restraining order. By the time officers arrived, Stacy was reportedly not at the residence and went on the run for a short time.

Arrested in Orlando

“Officers arrived on scene within two minutes and were able to determine a domestic violence battery had taken place and that the suspect, Zackary Stacy, had fled the scene,” local law enforcement advised. “Officers continued to search for Stacy, and the case was forwarded to the investigations unit of the Oakland Police Department to establish probable cause to secure a warrant for Stacy’s arrest.”

Investigators called on Stacy to turn himself in. While authorities initially suspected he fled the state, Orlando police ultimately arrested him.

Stacy’s notable football career began at Vanderbilt University, which led to him being drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2013. He eventually played for the New York Jets in 2015 but retired in 2017 due to injuries.

His connection to Vanderbilt earned him the honor of serving as the Youth Ambassador of Nashville’s Music City Bowl, but that honor was quickly revoked upon these startingly accusations.

“Based on the video and domestic violence report regarding Zac Stacy, the TransPerfect Music Bowl has terminated the relationship with Zac Stacy effective immediately,” organizers announced.
