Police arrest actor David Koechner on suspicion of DUI: Reports

A longtime comedic actor was reportedly arrested over the weekend.

According to Fox News, film and TV actor David Koechner was taken into custody on New Year’s Eve by authorities in Simi Valley, California.

Arrest could impact plans for upcoming comedy tour

He is facing criminal charges related to driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Office records showed that Koechner was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. and booked into jail later that evening.

Upon his release the next morning, he received an order to appear in court on March 30. Neither local authorities nor Koechner’s representatives immediately responded to a request for comment.

The legal trouble comes as the comedian plans for a nationwide tour. It was not clear from available reports if the upcoming court date will impact the schedule.

Koechner has a lengthy list of credits and is perhaps best known for his roles in the film Anchorman and television sitcom The Office. More recently, he appeared in the sports drama National Champions, which he has been promoting extensively on social media.

“Navigate them back to love”

As Page Six revealed last year, he and his wife of more than two decades had separated. The actor’s ex-wife confirmed at the time that she planned to start a seminar online aimed at those who were going through a divorce and expressed a desire to help “navigate them back to love, back to happiness.”

That program included the tagline: “Divorce sucks, but you don’t have to suffer.”

She claimed to provide a “divorce support tribe” for individuals in the same situation. The former couple had five children together and Leigh Koechner recalled their brief courtship after meeting on an airplane.

“It wasn’t long before we were married and expecting,” she said.

As TMZ reported, the actor, who also had a stint as a Saturday Night Live cast member, was involved in a collision prior to his arrest. Officers indicated that his vehicle had two blown tires at the time he was pulled over and he was given a field sobriety test during which he registered a 0.13 blood-alcohol content level.
