Poll: 60% think Trump impeachment a waste of time and money; 70% favor reining in Big Tech

After a very bad week for Republicans, it’s nice to see some better news.

According to a new poll taken January 10-11 by the McLaughlin Group, 60% of Americans in battleground states see a second impeachment of President Donald Trump as a waste of time and money, while 70% think Big Tech needs more regulation to prevent censorship. 

The House is voting to impeach Trump for a second time on Wednesday, claiming that he incited the Capitol riot by repeating allegations of voter fraud, telling supporters to rally in Washington, D.C. and suggesting they march to the Capitol after his speech.

Trump’s actual language in his speech did not mention violence and used the word “peacefully” to describe the march to the Capitol, however. The legal definition of incitement requires much more specific directives to be violent.

No impeachment, but “yes” to Big Tech regulation

A memo containing the poll’s findings was sent to Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller. Only 23% of those polled favored impeaching Trump, and 65% thought that impeaching him would make the country more divided.

Instead, 77% thought Congress should prioritize fighting the coronavirus over getting rid of Trump, and 48% of all voters said they would be less likely to vote for a lawmaker who supported impeachment.

As far as the reaction to Big Tech’s bans on Trump, 70% thought the platforms “have too much power and need to be regulated to protect the freedoms and privacy of Americans.”

And 74% agreed that “if Twitter, Facebook, and Google can censor and take away the President’s right to free speech they can take away the right to free speech for any American.”

Impeachment not fast enough to remove Trump early

House Democrats are seeking to remove Trump from office as soon as possible even though there are only seven days left until Joe Biden’s inauguration. A vote is expected to take place today, and with all Democrats voting for impeachment, it will pass.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) said the Senate would not come out of recess early to conduct an impeachment trial. Unanimous concent is required to do so, and there are many Republicans in the Senate who don’t think Trump should be impeached based on his actions prior to the riot.

According to former appeals court judge J. Michael Luttig, writing in the Washington Post Wednesday, however, any impeachment trial is unconstitutional once the subject of that trial is out of office.

The entire purpose of impeachment, Luttig writes, is to remove a sitting, elected official while they are still in office because they had done something harmful and couldn’t be allowed the chance to do anything else.

It seems that if Democrats want to prevent Trump from ever running for president again, they’re going to have to find another way.

The “impeachment” of OUR President was nothing more than a spite filled rant by the Washington D.C. “SWAMP RATS” to try and keep OUR President from running once again in 2024, after the democrats rigged and stole the 2020 election !! Well it doesn’t really matter, WE will put TRUMP back into the Whithouse in 2024, whether it’s Donald Sr. or Donald Jr. makes us very little difference, We will expose this election as rigged, enact voter reform and have a “FAIR ” election in 2024. COUNT ON IT, WE THE PEOPLE WILL PREVAIL, WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY !!!!

Fart face Swalwell should be gone since he was sleeping with a Chinese spy! & there there’s Diane frankenstin who had a chinese spy as her driver for many many years. I could go on & on but I could write a book about how vile & corrupt ALL the demonrats are We need to get them all out! Well, if we get rid of the deep state most of the demonrats will be gone & we can have our great country back

With all do respect for both party’s if you can’t see what’s really going on you should be concerned for our Freedom, our Freedom, is being attack on both sides of the isle the one’s that are using the system for their own gain , I feel that WE THE PEOPLE should know what’s really going on in Washington DC and Our President stirred the POT in Washington DC of corruption , and I would like to see a audit of our political officials in the future ever two years and also there family members if they are working for foreign government’s , I don’t know how political officials could get away with corruption unless the system is really corrupted , another thing WE THE PEOPLE should be the one’s voting on there raises NOT GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS OR CITY OFFICIALS ALSO, PERIOD .

  11. This is not an attack on the President, this is an attack on all Americans. Why would anyone want to live in a communist/social society. As a women in the military I left my husband and small children to fight in a war against terrorism; just to come home and find terrorism in my own back yard. Terrorism is when Christians and Non-Christian Citizens, who obey the law, pay their taxes, support their communities, and mind their own business, are afraid to walk down the streets in their own neighborhoods. Terrorist are those people who burn down your businesses, and homes, and destroy your livelihoods; while having no remorse. And when politicians not only support those actions but encourage them they are the true terrorist as they have the power to pull it off, and everyone of them should be impeached from the mayors of the cities to the government leaders in DC. I am not sure how long people have to wait for their elected officials to do something that is right before they take a stand and say, what do we have to lose. I in no way support violence of any kind, but am disheartened and sickened by the very behavior of the people who say “we took an oath to defend…” They have not a clue from their ivory tower. They took that oath to defend the US, the President, and the American people; anything and everything short of that is treasonous. They took that oath to stand up for what is right, not what makes them powerful and wealthy. As we say in the military they are a disgrace to the uniform. If you have a disagreement with the person in charge you take it up in private, are you campaign and beat the person out of the job. When did we become such hypocrites so hungry and thirty for power and money that we can say and do anything to destroy one another just to have them. With the money used from the first impeachment we could have feed and housed a whole city, maybe even small state, or at the very least a homeless area. Did you ask us if we had a better way to spend all that money you so easily waste. We are after all the ones that put into the treasurer just so you can do whatever you want with it. You have not asked because you really don’t care. Lastly, If their are real criminals these days it is the news media, they should really be ashamed for dividing this country. Give me the facts and I will decide what to believe. Don’t tell me what I should believe, and how dare you call me a nazi, who needs to be deprogrammed? Did you fight for this country? Well I did.   12. The 10 Republicans who voted to impeach the BEST President ever MUST be wondering how to face the people back home, and Thank God they surely will
    be barred from ever seeking a Government office (as the Demos’ want to treat President Trump) again. There are a several (hundred) words I could use to describe the Speaker, but I am too short of breath. My sincerely desire is for POTUS to seek office 2024. Isn’t it a bit strange the Demos’ didn’t mention the West coast where over 25 deaths occurred! And by the way, when does the “hearings’ start on Clinton , the FBI and DOJ?

  13. THINK! Why so much pressure to impeach with 6 days away? Prevent Trump in 2024? NO! If they do get the power fraud will always give them power. I think they are afraid President Trump may use the CONSTITUTIONAL LAW to put them in jail as they deserve and force the court system to see the evidence they IGNORE. We may be surprised and see what we derived as one way was actually a cover up for REAL JUSTICE. THIS I PRAY!
