Poll shows 60 percent of House staffers believe Pelosi set to retire

A whopping 60% of House staff members believe House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will retire following the midterm elections, according to a new poll.

Punchbowl News reported the results from the poll in a message on Tuesday.

Still going

Pelosi announced plans to run again for reelection in January. She has been in office since 1987.

The congresswoman has said this would be her last term as speaker but did not specifically note her plans regarding retirement.

Past reports have noted Pelosi has purchased a retirement home in Florida, though she continues to reside in her district in California.

Most Unpopular Democrat?

“According to a Tuesday National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) poll last week, Pelosi is the most unpopular Democrat in Congress,” Breitbart News reported.

“Pelosi’s favorability is only 34 percent, with 48 percent disapproval, a negative net unfavorable rating of 14 percentage points. Pelosi’s favorability rating has decreased since the NRCC began polling the question. In February 2021, 41 percent of voters approved and 52 percent disapproved of Pelosi, an 11- point gap,” the poll showed.

Despite unpopularity among GOP voters, Pelosi has remained strong in her San Francisco area district.

Pelosi became the first female speaker of the House and has continued to serve as the foil of Trump and other conservative leaders over the years.

In addition to the rumor of retirement, Pelosi was reported as testing positive for COVID-19 this week. She reportedly shows no signs of sickness.

The long-time politician has served for years, but this year could be her last if the latest poll is any indication.
