President Joe Biden’s approval rating just reached a new low: 33 percent.
Biden achieved this rating in a new poll from Quinnipiac University. Released on Wednesday, the poll was conducted between January 7th and January 10th. 1,313 “U.S. adults nationwide” participated.
The pollster found that only one in every three Americans support the job that Biden is doing as president. 53 percent disapprove of that job, while 13 percent chose not to opine on the issue.
This 33 percent is a new low for Biden. It is a three-point drop-off from a similar poll that Quinnipiac conducted in November. That poll had Biden’s approval at 36 and his disapproval at 53 percent, while 10 percent chose not to opine.
Only 75 percent of Democrat participants said that they approve of Biden’s performance as president. This is a significant dropoff from November, which saw 87 percent of Democrats approve of Biden’s job performance.

What’s driving Biden’s approval down? Take your pick . . .
Quinnipiac, in particular, highlighted three areas where Biden received especially “negative scores,” namely, the economy, foreign policy, and, believe it or not, the coronavirus pandemic.
With regard to the economy, 34 percent of participants expressed approval of Biden’s handling of it, while 57 percent expressed disapproval. The percentages were similar for foreign policy, 35 percent approval, and 54 percent disapproval.
But, regarding the coronavirus pandemic, 39 percent approve of Biden’s handling of it, while 55 percent disapprove.
In terms of meeting expectations, 50 percent of participants indicated that, in their opinion, Biden is doing about how they expected him to do. 39 percent indicated that Biden is doing worse than they expected, whereas only 7 percent indicated that he is doing better than they expected.
Currently, with Quinnipiac’s latest poll, RealClearPolitics has Biden’s average approval at 41.9 percent. With an average disapproval of 53.1 percent, Biden is currently underwater by 11.2 percentage points. It’s a similar story on FiveThirtyEight, where Biden’s average approval rating is 42 percent, and his average disapproval rating is 52 percent.
How low can Biden go? Any bets on whether his approval rating will drop into the twenties at some point?
