President Biden is underwater for first time in key state poll

The Daily Caller reports that President Joe Biden’s job approval rating is underwater in the state of Massachusetts for the first time since the start of his presidency.

The significance cannot be overstated.

Massachusetts is a deep blue state. Accordingly, if Biden is struggling there, chances are that he is going to be struggling just about everywhere — and that’s bad news for his fellow Democrats.

The results

The poll comes from Civiqs. The pollster just released its latest results, which show Biden to be underwater in Massachusetts.

The pollster specifically found that Biden, in Massachusetts, only has the approval of 34% of the state’s residents. Fifty-five percent, on the other hand, expressed their disapproval of the job that Biden is doing as president.

This is a significant dropoff from just last month when only 43% disapproved of the job that Biden was doing as president. So, between May and June, Biden managed to turn off significantly more voters – enough to put him underwater for the first time on a Civiqs poll. Up until June, he always had a positive approval rating from the pollster.

The results show that an astonishing 95% of Massachusetts Republicans, 63% of Independents, and 12% of Democrats disapprove of the job that Biden is doing. The state’s Democrats appear to be the only reason why Biden’s approval rating isn’t even worse.

Perspective

If you have followed national polling, the dismal numbers should not be surprising. After all, Biden, currently, has an average approval rating of about 39.4%, and an average disapproval rating of 54.9%, putting him underwater, on average, by 15.5 percentage points.

But, what is significant, as stated at the outset, is that the results come from a solid, deep blue state.

In the 2020 presidential election, Biden received almost 66% of the vote in Massachusetts. That’s a staggering figure, and it shows just how much of a lock the state of Massachusetts tends to be for Democrats.

Accordingly, Massachusetts could be used as somewhat of a bellwether for the upcoming elections.

In other words, what this all amounts to is another sign that the Democrats are in big trouble in the upcoming elections.
