Many on the left have referred to the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill as an “insurrection,” with House Democrats even forming a committee to investigate it.
Now, some Arizona Republicans are calling for a committee to investigate a similar incident which occurred last week.
Pro-abortion mob surrounds legislature following landmark Supreme Court ruling
According to Fox News, a mob of pro-abortion demonstrators assembled outside of Arizona’s state Senate building on Friday evening after the Supreme Court announced its decision in the landmark abortion case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
The network said that demonstrators banged on the building’s doors and windows while lawmakers were trapped inside before police eventually fired tear gas into the crowd causing it to disperse.
Conservative journalist Andy Ngo later tweeted out video footage from the confrontation:

Arizona attorney general says demonstrators were not “peaceful or lawful”
Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich was quick to condemn the mob, declaring that it was not “a peaceful or lawful protest.”
“An angry mob defaced the Arizona Peace Officers Memorial last night, after being dispersed from the State Capitol,” Fox News quoted Brnovich as saying in a statement released on Saturday.
“We must never tolerate these criminal attempts to tear down our institutions and intimidate our officials,” the state attorney general insisted.
Meanwhile, Republican state Sen. Kelly Townsend put out a tweet of her own describing the situation for lawmakers inside the building.
Townsend then went on to demand that a legislative committee be assembled to investigate the mob’s actions.
We are currently there being held hostage inside the Senate building due to members of the public trying to breach our security. We smell teargas and the children of one of the members are in the office sobbing with fear. I expect a J24 committee to be created immediately.
