Progressives call for moderate Democrats to be removed from office

Progressive Democrats are looking to take out the moderate Democrats with another attack earlier this week, according to Newsmax

Progressives have had no qualms about sharing their frustration with the Democrats who are more centric, including Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) who aren’t in support of some of the party’s platforms.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) specifically, has said she really sees no “compelling case” for why Sinema should maintain her position as part of the upper house of Congress.

“I don’t believe she’s really given a compelling case as to why she should be re-nominated as the Democratic nominee for United States Senate in Arizona,” Ocasio-Cortez said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour.”

“She has proven herself an obstacle to the right to vote in the United States,” she added. “She is not an ally on civil rights. It is becoming a precipice and rather contributing to the threat that we have in stabilizing our democracy.

“She is not standing up to corporate interests, in fact, she is a profound ally to them. And I believe that, you know, she is not doing what voters in Arizona sent her to do.”

The New York representative was asked by host Mehdi Hasan if Ocasio-Cortez would support primary challengers who might challenge Sinema and moderate Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV).

Ocasio-Cortez answered that if she’s asked to choose between Sinem and progressive Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) who is considering a run, she would hands down support the latter.

The New York representative said it would be “the easiest decision I would ever have to make. There’s no comparison.”

Both Sinema and Manchin have drawn liberal frustration due to their inability to bend to all of the causes of the Democratic Party, including the ban on the filibuster rule.

Progressives such as Ocasio-Cortez and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who caucuses with Democrats have both been clear about their lack of belief in the pair.

“Sinema’s actions have gotten her censured by her state party, though Manchin remains popular in his state of West Virginia,” Newsmax reported.
