Psaki clarifies that Biden supports ‘peaceful’ mobs at the homes of SCOTUS justices

Biden press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed Tuesday that the administration does in fact support, and “encourage”, so-called “peaceful protests” outside the homes of Supreme Court justices.

The characteristically snarky Psaki was dismissive of “outrage” over the mob’s thuggish efforts to intimidate an independent branch of government, Breitbart reported.

Biden’s all for it

Biden had signaled solidarity last week with the “passion” of pro-abortion extremists angered by a leaked opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.

But as criticism of Biden’s kid-gloved response to the “protests” mounted, Psaki affirmed Monday that judges “must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety” in a rather abstract statement that many interpreted as condemnation, even though Psaki did not call out the mob threatening the justices.

Those who took her vague, equivocal comments as a sign that Biden was putting the mob at a distance were corrected the next day, as Psaki asserted that the “protests” outside of justices’ homes have been “peaceful to date,” despite the obviously menacing intent of the “protesters.”

Psaki said that Biden is both against “violence, threats, and intimidation of any kind” and for the mob’s intimidation, which Psaki said Biden wants to “encourage.” She laughed off “outrage” in response to the “protests.”

“So I know that there’s an outrage right now, I guess, about protests that have been peaceful to date, and we certainly continue to encourage that outside of judges’ homes, and that’s the president’s position,” she said.

Winking Biden endorses mob rule

Biden is clearly trying to play it both ways here: he supports the mob’s intimidation of the Supreme Court, but he doesn’t want the political blowback that comes with sanctioning such thuggery.

His answer: condemn “intimidation” in a vague, abstract, meaningless sense, while endorsing actual, specific acts of violence and intimidation as “peaceful” with a wink and a nod.

This way, he gets to be a rabble-rousing demagogue and Mr. “Unity” all at once. See how that works?

Americans saw this playbook before in 2020, when Biden reluctantly and equivocally “condemned” the mobs of “mostly peaceful” rioters who terrorized communities all summer long. Here he is again, letting his radical base know that they are above the law.

Even as she endorsed anarchy on Biden’s behalf, the ever-self-righteous Psaki was able to squeeze in a brief lecture about civility — blasting Republicans’ “silence” over “all the other [emphasis added] intimidation” she said has come from the right, such as the Capitol “insurrection.”
