New York Attorney General Leticia James (D) put out a report this week that confirmed allegations the state’s Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo, sexually harassed multiple women, even using “fear and intimidation” to keep his victims quiet. It’s led to calls for the governor’s resignation, including from President Joe Biden himself.
However, Biden has faced sexual misconduct allegations of his own, something that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was grilled on at a recent press conference. It’s a topic that she clearly wasn’t eager to discuss — and she quickly crumbled under the pressure.
“In a follow up to the report on Governor Cuomo’s sexual harassment, a lot of men in politics have been accused of sexual harassment,” the Daily Wire quoted New York Post reporter Steven Nelson as saying during Wednesday’s White House press conference.
“An independent investigation”
“President Biden was accused by female Secret Service agents of skinny dipping in front of them, offending them, according to another Washington Post reporter Ronald Kessler who is an author as well,” the Post reporter continued.
“His former Senate aide Tara Reade accused him of sexual assault,” Nelson said, according to the Daily Wire. “The Washington Post and The New York Times published multiple accounts of women who objected to the way President Biden touched them.”
Nelson then pressed: “Should there be an independent investigation of allegations into the president as there was into Governor Cuomo?”
Psaki, for her part, began her response by asserting that “the president has been clear and outspoken about the importance of women being respected and having their voices heard and being allowed to tell their stories and people treating them with respect. That has long been his policy continues to be his policy.”
According to the Daily Wire, she then declared that the issues Nelson raised were “heavily litigated” over the course of last year’s presidential campaign, adding, “I understand you’re eager to come back to it. But I don’t have anything further other than to repeat that he has called for the governor to resign.”
A look back
Contrary to Psaki’s claims, many conservatives would argue that far from being “heavily litigated,” the allegations against Biden were often ignored or downplayed by members of the mainstream media.
After Tara Reade came forward with claims that Biden sexually assaulted her while she was working in his Senate office, Business Insider interviewed one of Reade’s former neighbors who claimed Reade recounted the assault to her several years after it was said to have occurred.
What’s more, Reade said that her late mother once called into The Larry King Show to discuss what happened. The Intercept subsequently uncovered video footage that appears to corroborate her story.
In the footage, a woman who was identified as being from San Luis Obispo County, where Reade’s mother reportedly lived, complained that her daughter had problems while “working for a prominent senator,” but chose not to go to the press.
