Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems as if the only politicians caught breaking their own ridiculous mandates and policies have been Democrats, with the latest example being President Joe Biden himself.
According to the Washington Examiner, over the weekend the president and First Lady Jill Biden were captured on video walking maskless through a ritzy Washington D.C. Italian restaurant, which was in clear violation of a city mask mandate. On Monday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was pressed on the slip-up, which sent her into damage control spin mode.

The president and his wife were dragged on social media for breaking the city’s — and restaurant’s — mask rules.
Psaki says no big deal
On Monday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy — typically the only White House reporter who asks important questions — pressed Psaki on the video footage, which quickly went viral over the weekend.
“There is a mask requirement inside D.C. restaurants,” Doocy said, “yet President Biden and the first lady were not wearing masks while walking around a D.C. restaurant on Saturday. Why?”
At first, Psaki attempted to deflect the question by falsely linking it to a related matter, but then must have realized her answer wasn’t suffice, as she quickly came up with several excuses as to why the Bidens felt as if the rules don’t apply to them.
“So I would say, of course, there are moments when we all don’t put masks back on as quickly as we should,” Psaki said. “But I don’t think we should lose the forest through the trees here in that our objective here is to get more people vaccinated.”
She continued by droning on about Biden’s recent COVID-19 vaccine mandate that will apply to businesses that employ over 100 people, which was clearly a desperate attempt to move on from Doocy’s question.
Rules for thee
The Biden’s are far from the only DC power-players to openly break the capital city’s masking requirements. Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) has been caught no less than three times breaking the very rules on which she signed off.
Other examples include House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who generated a huge controversy for her office last year when she was caught in a hair salon without a mask, as the BBC reported.
The bottom line is that Democrats are quick to criticize, scold, and even punish American citizens for breaking such rules, but they seem to believe that they’re above such ordinances.
