While the House committee investigating January 6 is dominated by Democrats, it also contains two anti-Trump Republicans. In a stunning turn, one of them just accused a Secret Service agent of lying.
“Tony Ornato likes to lie”
According to Fox News, Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger besmirched Secret Service agent Tony Ornato’s character in a series of social media posts he put up on Thursday.
There seems to be a major thread here… Tony Ornato likes to lie. https://t.co/0c2itYqf5J

Nor was Kinzinger alone in accusing Ornato of dishonesty. Olivia Troye formerly served as White House Homeland Security advisor under Mike Pence, and she made a similar claim.
Tony Ornato sure seems to deny conversations he’s apparently had. First this one with Keith Kellogg in “I Alone Can Fix It” & now he’s denying the story he told Cassidy Hutchinson. Those of us who worked w/ Tony know where his loyalties lie. He should testify under oath. pic.twitter.com/4vsTL0GB2D

Fox News noted that those attacks came after Ornato disputed testimony offered by Cassidy Hutchinson, a former top aide to Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
During testimony before the committee, Hutchinson said she was told that at one point on January 6 former President Donald Trump effectively attempted to hijack the vehicle he was riding in.
Trump is alleged to have tried grabbing the steering wheel and then lunged at a Secret Service agent after being told that he would not be driven to the Capitol following a speech.
Trump calls Hutchinson’s testimony “fraudulent”
Fox News stated that for his part, Trump took to the social media platform Truth Social and proceeded to denounce Hutchinson as being “fraudulent.”
“Her Fake story that I tried to grab the steering wheel of the White House Limousine in order to steer it to the Capitol Building is “sick” and fraudulent, very much like the Unselect Committee itself – Wouldn’t even have been possible to do such a ridiculous thing,” he said.
The former president also took issue with Hutchinson’s claim that he flew into a rage and began throwing food which she was then forced to clean up.
“Her story of me throwing food is also false…and why would SHE have to clean it up, I hardly knew who she was?” Trump demanded.
