Rep. Boebert pushes to defund Biden’s new ‘disinformation’ agency

Many observers were left feeling troubled last week when Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the creation of a new “Disinformation Governance Board.”

One of those concerned Americans was Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert (R). According to Fox News, she’s already pushing to have the board defunded.

“This kind of stuff is terrifying,” the Republican congresswoman told Fox News Digital in an interview Friday.

“We in Congress have the power of the purse,” Boebert continued, declaring, “It is our duty to shut down this department immediately.”

“I’m calling on leadership in the Republican Party — Leader [Kevin] McCarthy, Whip [Steve] Scalise and others — to join me in calling for this department to be shut down and defunded,” she added.

“No tax dollars”

“No tax dollars should go to where Biden can use the power of the federal government to silence truthful stories like Big Tech did with the Hunter Biden story,” Boebert stressed, complaining that Democrats have taken George Orwell’s 1984 as being “a guide,” rather than “a warning.”

Boebert followed those words up with a tweet in which she compared the Biden administration’s actions to those taken by communist regimes.

“Ministry of Truth”

Boebert is far from being alone in criticizing the new government entity, as former Democratic lawmaker and presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has voiced her concerns as well.

Gabbard tweeted on Friday that “[e]very dictatorship has a propaganda arm—a ‘Ministry of Truth.’ The Biden Administration has now formally joined the ranks of such dictatorships with their creation of the so-called ‘Disinformation Governance Board.'”

The Disinformation Governance Board is set to be headed by an individual named Nina Jankowicz, a radical leftist who has been called out for having herself spread online disinformation.

Fox News reported that Jankowicz put out multiple tweets suggesting that Hunter Biden’s laptop was a Russian invention. However, mainstream media outlets such as The New York Times have since confirmed its authenticity, and Jankowicz has yet to correct her previous denials.
