Rep. Jordan speaks out against Biden’s plan for gun control: ‘This is frightening’

Rep. Jim Jordan, (R-OH) spoke out against President Joe Biden’s decision to move forward with a plan that would deprive law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights.

The lawmaker appeared on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle on Monday to voice his concerns, according to Fox News, during which he slammed the president for his “scary policies.”

“This is frightening”

“This is frightening. You’ve got the FBI going after parents; you’ve got the DOJ [Department of Justice] setting up a domestic terrorism unit and now we find out that the ATF [Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives] are going after law-abiding gun owners,” the Ohio Republican said.

Jordan then likened Biden’s decisions to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton email scandal and how it was handled.

“I mean, I think about this: Hillary Clinton destroyed 30,000 emails while she was under investigation and now every single gun purchase by a law-abiding American is being preserved,” Jordan said.

The lawmaker then questioned what Biden’s policies could lead to in the future, saying that Americans should be wary of any breach of their rights and freedoms.

“So what? That the federal government can set up a national database? This is scary stuff…what they’ve done with our First Amendment rights and now what they’re doing to our Second Amendment liberties…all from one administration, all in one single year.

Speaking for many

According to Jordan, he’s speaking for a large swath of his constituents and conservatives nationwide who are ready to see their rights protected, not taken away.

“Um, so yeah, there are a number of us who are concerned about this and this is why we wrote the letter. And, frankly, we didn’t realize that it was quite this number of purchases over the past 20-some years that the federal government is now compiling.”

Jordan and other conservatives have been critical of Biden’s policies, including late last year when Biden’s plan for how to curb gun violence became common knowledge.

Included in his plan was the promise to use $350 billion in federal stimulus money to help crack down on gun dealers who fail to run background checks.

“Folks, this shouldn’t be a red or blue issue,” Biden said. “It’s an American issue. We’re not changing the Constitution; we’re enforcing it.”
