House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) says she wants to uncover the “truth” about Jan. 6, so why is she refusing to answer pertinent questions about Capitol security?
Could it be that her “committee” on the riot is just another partisan witch hunt? Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) thinks so. If “everything’s on the table,” Jordan told Mark Levin, why not call Nancy to the witness stand?
Will Pelosi testify?
If Pelosi was serious, then she would allow the committee to look into what role she played in securing the Capitol, Jordan said, as Breitbart reported.
“The questions need to be asked, the answers we need to get to, deal with why there wasn’t a better security posture that day,” he said. “Only the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives can answer that.”
While Democrats say “everything’s on the table,” it appears Pelosi has a selective understanding of what that means.
“And that’s the one question — Chairman Thompson said ‘everything’s on the table’ – Well, excuse me, everything’s on the table except that question. So this tells you the political nature of this entire committee,” Jordan added.
Jordan raises an interesting hypothetical, but it’s unfortunately very unlikely Pelosi will be called to testify, as it would undermine the whole point of the exercise: to frame conservatives as domestic terrorists.
Targeting GOP lawmakers
It’s also unlikely Pelosi will allow much light to be shed on the officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt and the 14,000 hours of surveillance tapes being mysteriously withheld by Capitol police.
Any pretense of a serious investigation vanished when Pelosi kicked Jordan and Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) off the committee for questioning her motives, including her refusal to examine the Black Lives Matter uprising of 2020, in which 25 people were killed.
The only Republicans allowed on the totally-not-a-witch-hunt committee are Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), both rabidly anti-Trump figures handpicked by Pelosi.
To really drive the point home that this is a solemn endeavor, well-trained dog Kinzinger says that Jordan and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) may become targets of the inquisition, the New York Post reported.
The whole circus is so unseemly that even Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), by no means a conservative firebrand, is questioning Pelosi’s “partisan” intentions, as USA Today reported.
