Rep. Taylor Greene permanently banned from Twitter after ‘COVID-19 misinformation’ post

Twitter has once again been accused of silencing conservatives after it recently booted one of President Joe Biden’s loudest critics.

Fox News reported Sunday that freshman Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R) was permanently kicked off Twitter after allegedly violating its rules regarding “COVID-19 misinformation.”

“We permanently suspended the account you referenced (@mtgreenee) for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy,” a spokesperson for the social media giant told Fox News.

“We’ve been clear that, per our strike system for this policy, we will permanently suspend accounts for repeated violations of the policy,” the spokesperson added.

No questioning allowed

Although Twitter did not specify which tweet had resulted in Greene’s termination, Fox News noted that on Sunday she made reference to “extremely high amounts of Covid vaccine deaths.”

It also pointed to a temporary suspension this past August tweet after Greene declared that “vaccines are failing & do not reduce the spread of the virus & neither do masks.”

In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has since acknowledged that fully vaccinated people are capable of both experiencing “breakthrough” COVID-19 cases as well as spreading the virus to others.

Greene responded to her removal by joining the alternative social media platform GETTR, where she quickly took issue with Twitter’s double standards.

Total hypocrites

Specifically, the Republican lawmaker pointed out that it seems hypocritical to ban her while at the same time that more controversial figures are allowed to remain active on the platform.

“When Maxine Waters can go to the streets and threaten violence on Twitter, Kamala and Ilhan can bail out rioters on Twitter, and Chief spokesman for terrorist IRGC can tweet mourning Soleimani but I get suspended for tweeting VAERS statistics, Twitter is an enemy to America and can’t handle the truth,” Greene wrote.

“That’s fine,” the outspoken conservative continued, “I’ll show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.”

Greene’s removal from Twitter had an impact on podcast star and comedian Joe Rogan, who quickly announced that he too will be moving his account to GETTR rather than risk being banned.
